Book Reviews

More Than a Writer

I have many titles. Author. Mom. Wife. Homeschool Teacher (please tell me I’m not the only one sick of that title). Tax preparer. Office manager. Maid. Chauffeur.

But also, I am a reader.

I can’t go a full day without spending at least some time reading.

About a week ago, I was given an ARC of the first book of Michelle MacQueen’s Rockstars Anonymous series, Love is a Lyric, and oh my god you guys, I couldn’t put it down. (And now I have “Omigod You Guys” from the Legally Blonde musical stuck in my head. Great.)

Not only is this a super sweet love story, but it shows a glimpse of the life of being a musician.

Benji (or Ben, as the world knows him, but I prefer Benji) is a completely different person on stage, hidden behind his makeup and hair gel. But of course, not even famous musicians are immune to heartbreak.

He has a group of musicians that are there for him after he catches his girlfriend with their bandmate, but no one is there are much as Piper, Quinn’s assistant (and sister).

Unable to work for her sister any longer, Piper takes a job working for Drew, another musician in Benji’s Rockstars Anonymous group. Not going to lie, I fell in love with Drew immediately, and I’m PRAYING that a later book in this series couples Drew with Benji’s brother Chase. (Music and hockey! I would be in heaven!!)

Quinn (and even Conner the few times he is mentioned) seem to embody what you would expect a rock start to be, but Benji and his group of RA are so much more. I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series!!
