Can We Just Not Be D-Bags?

Guess what guys? This post is about wrestling.

But also, it’s not about wrestling.

Why is it so difficult for some people to be decent human beings?

Back story. One of my favorite wrestlers (Sammy Guevarra with AEW) recently posted on Twitter that he and his fiance separated. He didn’t have to tell us anything, but since he literally proposed to her on live TV not too long ago, and she had several appearances in his weekly vlog, they decided it was time to let the fans know.

Of course, people lost their shit.

Immediately, the internet started blaming a bad-ass female wrestler (Tay Conti) because she was a regular in Sammy’s vlog. People were horrible! These so-called wrestling “fans” literally bullied her off social media. Her Twitter account was deactivated. Her Instagram was taken over by her managers.

Just because some guy that she works with broke up with his fiance?

Sammy took to Twitter after Tay deleted hers, saying that he and his fiance had actually broken up a couple of months ago. That just made “fans” worse.

Seriously, if he is with Tay, it’s none of my business. If he wants to let us know, great. True wrestling fans will eat up any type of information that these people give us. Until then, it’s not my business.

A friend of mine posted a video about this same topic, and I was just going to comment on his video and leave it alone.

Yea, that didn’t happen, because here I am.

Now I’m definitely not saying all wrestling fans are d-bags. Not even the majority of them. However, when you read 100 comments on something and 10 are negative, what ones will you remember? Definitely not the 90 supportive comments.

Negativity will tear us apart.

Today is Tuesday, and that’s a Sammy vlog day. I was worried it wouldn’t happen. I was honestly worried that he would decide that letting the fans into his life wasn’t worth it. I’m glad I was wrong.

And this doesn’t just apply to wrestling. It applies to everything. If something isn’t your business, stay out of it. It’s as easy as that. I personally hate the term “bullying” because it is often misused, but that’s exactly what it is. People know they are being hurtful. They just don’t freaking care. These are real people. Sure, they may seem like just a character they play on TV, but that character is played by a real person.

Just be better.
